Last Tuesday I went on a field trip with my kindergarteners to Zoo Atlanta. I was a little nervous about dragging around a group of five-year-olds but I had such a great group!
This was the first time I had been back to the zoo since middle school. When I was in sixth grade, the gifted class had to do a project on one of the animals. We chose our animals out of a hat and I was stuck with the Kori Bustard. You've probably never heard of the Kori Bustard so let me just tell you about it. It's a bird that literally stands in one place all day. That's it. I wish I was joking. I remember being so jealous of the other kids who got to watch the lions or elephants or giraffes while I was stuck with a dumb, lazy bird. Guess we can't always get what we want, right?
{ps i apologize to any of you who may happen to love kori bustards}
