Good News and Bad News...

Let's do the bad news first: I have strep throat.
It's a tragedy I know.
But the good news is I finally get a break!
I've been going non-stop with school, work, and other events that I haven't had time to just lay around for a while.

So today, I'm laying in the bed catching up on tv shows, blogs, and some reading.
It's quite relaxing.

Hope everyone is having a terrific Tuesday!

PS...I finally got to see my best friend this past weekend! It has been months since we've seen each other and I missed her so much!

Fried Oprah

On Friday, we had a potluck lunch for the teachers in honor of Black History Month. I'm not really sure what a potluck has to do with anything. But I never pass up free food. Especially when it's fried chicken.

I was also excited to see fried okra. Yummmm...my favorite food ever.
I generally eat with my students so they were all excited to see the goodies I had on my plate.

******************************
            Student: Is that fried oprah?
            Me: I'm sorry. What?!
Student: Fried oprah. Is that what you're eating?
Me: Ummmm no. That would be cannibalism. I'm eating fried okra.
Student: Oh right. That's what I said.

Oh kindergarteners. You just never know what they're going to say.

And just for your enjoyment:

Conversations with Kindergarteners

Time for more quotes from my little cuties!

Me: Alright let's line up!
Student: I love your shirt.
Me: Thank you! Now get in line with your friends, please!
Student: Okay but I really like your scarf.
Me: Aww you're so sweet! But I really need you to get in line.
Student: Alright but you're a really pretty girl.

****************************************

Student: Do you like to wear dresses?
Me: I sure do!
Student: Oh well I was thinking that you could come over to my house. You could wear a dress and I could wear a dress and we could dance around like ballerinas.
Me: Hmm...I'll have to think about that one.

"If you have migraines, you know pain."
Anyone remember that commercial? I hated it.
1. Because it was annoying.
2. Because I hate migraines.

I don't get them very often. But when I do, they are HORRIBLE.
Take last night for instance:
I had one of the worst migraines I've ever had. I needed complete silence and total darkness. Oh and I couldn't move or that would make the pain 10 times worse.

Somehow during all the pain, I fell asleep.
Praise the Lord.

While sleeping, I had a dream that I went to the store for some kiwi.
Only I couldn't find any.
So I walked around the produce section about 10 times looking for them.
With no luck.

I woke up craving kiwi.
I think it's safe to make the assumption that migraines make me want kiwi.
That's not too far of a stretch, right?

Well as you know, I'm working in a Kindergarten class. I'm not going to lie, it has been rough.
This isn't the age group I want to teach but obviously I can't change my placement.
God has been teaching me a lot about patience lately.
I'm just trying to make the best of it!

On Friday, I prayed long and hard before I went to the school. I just wanted to have a great day and find joy in everything that happened.
{Sidenote: I'm studying the book of James right now and it's so perfect. James 1:2 "Consider it pure joy, my brothers, when you face trials of many kinds"}
Praise the Lord, I actually had a pretty good day.

The best part was definitely the story one of the students wrote about me.
Melt my heart!

Translation: I like to play with me and Sarah Burton in the playground because she is beautiful. She has beautiful hair and she has beautiful eyes.

If everyday turns out to be like this, the year will be much better than I imagined.
