Friday Favorites: Birthday Edition

I've been in a birthday mood lately. I have always loved birthdays. Except for my 20th. That one was pretty rough for me. I think for me it just meant I was really growing up. Like it was serious now. Anybody else have that same experience?

Anyways, my best friend turned 21 earlier this month and I have been in a birthday kick since then. So I thought I would let you in on the fun!

Birthday Gifts on the Hour

How cute is this idea? This means you would get 24 presents on your big day! And personally, I think 24 small things are much better than one big thing. Unless it's a car. Because that definitely wins.

Grand Entrance

How fun is this?! I don't know anyone who wouldn't enjoy busting through a door of streamers. I might have to try this on a gloomy day. It's sure to make me feel better.

Birthday Board

This is more for a classroom than a family. It's a great way to keep track of everyone's birthday.

Birthday Rolex

This is also a classroom idea. How cute are those cards?!

Monogrammed Frame

I made this recently for my best friend. I loved how it all turned out! Such an easy but perfect gift.

All of these ideas (except for the last one) are courtesy of Pinterest (what else?!). I'm not kidding, y'all. I'm so obsessed with Pinterest. Just so we're clear.

I recently became a fan of Ben Rector. And by recently, I mean three days ago. I am such a fan that it is all I have been listening to for the past three days.
I kid you not.

His newest CD {Something Like This} just came out last week and I am in love!

If you haven't heard him before, you really need to check him out. His music is similar to Dave Barnes and Andrew Ripp (both of which are awesome).
They even toured together for a while.

In summary:
-Check out Ben
-Buy his music (all of it)
-Enjoy life.

PS: My brother was listening to this in the library yesterday with his headphones. A girl tapped him on the shoulder and said "What are you listening to? You look so happy right now."
Bam. His music makes people happy.

Sorry about the lack of posts. I've been in a blah mood lately about blogging. Probably because nothing exciting has happened. School and work are consuming every minute of my life. But it's okay because I love college! Seriously...no sarcasm.

Tomorrow is game day here in Athens. I wasn't planning on going because I went home this weekend. But my dad ended up getting four tickets so looks like I'll be back in Athens! Our tickets are split up so my dad and Cal will be sitting with the recruits while I sit with Wyatt somewhere on the alumni side. I get to spend all day with my favorite 5th grader!

On a different note, have you had a pumpkin spice latte yet??? I had my first last night and it was delish. I'm probably going to get another one tonight. I love fall!

Flashbacks

Lately I've been reminiscing about the good ol' days.
aka the 90s.
So let's take a journey and look at some of my favorite things from my childhood.

Lite-Brite
I have every Lite-Brite that has ever been out in stores. The original, the cube, the flat-screen, even the small portable one. Plus, I just found out you can do it online!

I had this clown memorized.

Goof Troop
Growing up, we only had a Super Nintendo. This game was the best! I still play it every summer when we pull the Nintendo out of the closet.

Scooter
Before the Razor Scooter became all the rage, I had a scooter that looked similar to this one:

Mine was pink and purple with white wheels. These kind were so much better than the Razors, even if they were 3x the size.

Pocahontas
She was is my favorite Disney character. I even got the Special Edition DVD for my 15th birthday.

Fisher Price School Desk
I'm pretty sure these came out a while before I was born, but I still had one. It started my obsession with playing teacher. Obviously that obsession stuck with me.

Speaking of Disney, did you know they are putting Lion King back in theaters?? It's coming out September 16 and you better believe I'll be there opening week.

Labor Day Recap

Wow it feels like forever since I've posted.
I've been super busy this week, although not with school.
This past weekend was such a great time of relaxing. I went home and did nothing. Love those weekends.

On Sunday, I went to the Braves game with the fam. Turns out it was also Bark in the Park day, so we got to see lots of cute pups!
Even though it rained, it was a great game and we won it in the bottom of the 9th inning. Go Bravos! The best part is we were under a roof so we didn't even get wet. Take that, you people with front row seats!
{It may look like Cal is missing, but he just avoids pictures. The blue shirt in the picture below is his body, fyi.}

I came back to Athens on Monday to hang out with Kristen. We just don't see enough of each other these days. We rented Twilight: Eclipse (don't judge) and were really enjoying ourselves until the TORNADO WARNING. What?! That came out of nowhere. Luckily, we survived.

After the ridiculous minor scare, we decided to go see another movie. So we hopped in the car, made a quick pit-stop at Menchie's (fab fro-yo), and headed to Carmike to see "Crazy, Stupid Love."
Oh.my.word. Y'all. Such a good movie. I could have watched it again right after it was over! I just love Ryan Gosling. It doesn't get much better than that.

Then the next day, after we were both done with classes, we headed back to Carmike to see "The Help". Another great movie! It was almost exactly like the book, which I absolutely loved. If you haven't read it, go check it out. Right now. Then go see the movie.

The cast was fantastic...in both movies. Obviously I love Emma Stone. She is just so quirky.

And while we're on the subject of movies, "Parent Trap" was on TV last night. I'm assuming you love this movie because who in their right minds wouldn't?! Of course I dropped everything I was doing (including an important paper due that night) to watch it. Don't worry, I finished the paper. Probably because I have EVERY line of the movie memorized (no lie). I found it's a lot easier to concentrate on other things when you know exactly what is coming next.

So now you're up to speed. I just got back from Bible study. We started the Daniel study by Beth Moore last week. I absolutely love her; she is the best. If you haven't done one of her studies, I highly recommend you hop to it. I've also done Esther and Revelation, Esther being my favorite.

Enjoy the rest of your week!

Shopaholic

I'm not going to lie...I love shopping. Although I'm not sure where I got it from because my mom abhors shopping. I could do it all day everyday. Unfortunately, I don't have the money to do that (who does?!).

The good thing about my shopping habit is that I get in "moods." Meaning I'll shop for a couple of days, and then won't shop for months. This week I have been in a shopping mood and I'm going to show you what I got!

I went to Rack Room last Saturday and bought two pairs of boots. They were BOGO 50% off so I bought a pair in brown and a pair in black. I have been looking for boots like this for almost two years so I'm so stinking excited about these! It's hard to find shoes when you wear an 11...

Tonight, I went to the Tanger Outlets in Commerce. At J.Crew, I got this super comfy shirt that will be perfect for fall.

Then I went to Gap where I found this lovely red skirt that will be making an appearance at a UGA game. Go Dawgs!! (PS I cannot wait for college football to start!) Sadly I couldn't find it online. It's similar to this skirt, but with small white polka dots.

{Don't you love how I threw good ol' LC in there? I just can't get enough.}

And my last purchase was a plain white button-down from Polo. I've been meaning to get one for a while but am just now getting around to it. The only thing I now "need" to complete my shopping spree is some skinny(ish) black jeans. Anyone have any suggestions?? I'd love some help!
